Look at the theme and stray from it. Goldwell don't want to see a replica of the work they've already created. Be creative and don't be afraid to run to fashion magazines and the latest fashion catwalks for inspiration.

Step outside your comfort zone. Not only is this a great way to grow and develop technically, but you'll be surprised at how creative you can be if you allow yourself to do so.

Don't forget the basics. Ensure you have a good model who is not only beautiful but who has a look that will suit your creation. Ensure the emphasis of the photo is on the hair, but don't forget the overall look of the image must reflect the trend (pose, clothing, makeup).

Make sure you enjoy yourself at every stage of the process - when you practice, when you do the shoot, when you send your photo away. The judges can tell when an entry has been created with passion.
