1. What Personal Information Do We Collect and Why?
The types of personal information that we collect about you will depend on the nature of your dealings with us.
Salon Operator and Employee Information: Goldwell collects personal information from hair salon operators and their employees, in order to market our products and services to the salon, including sending product and service information and offers, establishing and administering accounts, and managing the relationship with the salon. The personal information we collect from hair salon operators includes name and contact details, delivery details and bank payment details. We will usually collect this information when opening the salon’s account. The personal information we collect from hair salon employees includes name and contact details, which may be collected in the course of the business relationship with the salon.
If a salon operator does not supply the personal information needed, Goldwell may not be able to supply products to that salon operator.
Business Contact Information: Goldwell also collects personal information about the people with whom it does business. This will usually arise where we collect the name and business contact details of a person who is the contact person in one of our suppliers. Goldwell only uses business contact information for the business purpose for which it was collected (eg contract administration).
Consumer Information: If you are a consumer of Goldwell products, Goldwell may collect personal information from you, in order to send you information, promotions and offers regarding Goldwell’s products and services. The personal information we collect from consumers includes your name, contact details, and the hair salon you use. We will usually collect this information when you communicate directly with us.
2. Will Personal Information be given to Anyone Else?
Goldwell will only disclose personal information under the following circumstances:
(a) For account-related purposes
If you are a salon operator, Goldwell may disclose personal information about you to credit reporting agencies (with your consent), if this is necessary in order for us to establish and maintain your account.
(b) External service providers
Personal information collected by Goldwell may be disclosed to third parties to whom Goldwell contracts out specialised functions (eg IT systems support, mailing houses, debt collection agencies, delivery or payment receipting contractors). If we disclose personal information to our external service providers, we ask them to comply with the National Privacy Principles when they handle personal information about you.
(c) Disclosures required or permitted by law
Otherwise, Goldwell will only disclose personal information if you consent, or if this is required by law or otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act. Goldwell does not sell, rent or trade personal information about you to or with third parties.

Goldwell takes steps to ensure the security of your personal information from such risks as unauthorised access, loss or misuse. Your personal information is held on Goldwell’s computer and is only accessible by Goldwell’s employees, delivery and payment receipting contractors.

Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to request access to the personal information which Goldwell holds about you (although there are some exceptions to this). You also have the right to ask us to update or correct your personal information when it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

Ordinarily, Goldwell will not charge you for the cost of providing you with access to the current records we hold about you. To provide you with access we would ordinarily provide you with print-outs from our databases. If you request access to information in our archives, we may charge you for the cost of providing access.
If you make an access request, Goldwell will try to respond to your request promptly, although as noted above, providing access to archived records may take some time.
After we have provided you with access, if you are of the view that the personal information we hold about you is not accurate, complete or up to date, please let us know.
